The postgraduate degree in Tradition and Interpretation of Literary texts has as its main objective the acquisition of a well-grounded preparation so as to develop the capacity for doing independent research, sharing knowledge, elaborating ethodologies and technical analysis in the field of the philological and literary disciplines. These abilities will be developed along with specialized high-level competencies in any cultural or professional field connected with the production, circulation and analysis of texts. Therefore the postgraduate degree in Tradition and Interpretation of Literary texts aims at developing the following competencies: - the ability to apply a solid theoretical knowledge of the processes of communication in general and the mechanisms of production as well as verbal and literary communication in particular; - the ability to do in depth analysis of philological, rhetorical and stylistic, ideological and literary components of any text whether creative or scientific; - the ability to elaborate complex texts whether they are creative, technical or scientific texts; - the ability to accurately compare and collect texts of any genre and to establish relationships among them; - the ability to transform, adjust and recreate any text by referring to specific techniques of analysis and choosing essential thematic components as well as stylistic register; - the ability to organize, coordinate and produce texts such as dictionaries, grammar books, scholastic texts, and to carry out editing tasks with the use of computer technology and telematics; The course of study is differentiated into two tracks: one is dedicated mainly to Italian philology and literary culture, while the other is aimed at the presence of the classical literary tradition, i.e. Greek and Latin, found in modern and contemporary literary culture and hermeneutics. Apart from the two tracks mentioned above and in consideration of the objectives, the course involves some shared subject matter within the fields of the theory of literature and the European literary tradition – as well as a wide range of topics concerning theoretical and historical linguistics, philological and historical disciplines, art-history, educational disciplines as well as didactic methods. In any case, since these concern foundational disciplines, such subjects are aimed at providing a shared groundwork, and as such will be covered in the first year of study, while the other subjects represent the culmination of the critical study, which will be covered in the second year.
